A TOPHOTELDESIGN unique, we glance contained in the 2020-opened Nobu Lodge London Portman Sq..
MAKE Architects led the architectural design of this property and collaborated with David Collins Studio on the interiors, whereas Hansgrohe contributed as a provider.
Transformation of an present property
2020 noticed the completion of this architecturally spectacular Nobu Lodge London Portman Sq. in Marylebone. This property opened following the refurbishment and extension of an present resort, with the positioning comprising two accommodations set above a podium.
For this conversion, MADE Architects created a brand new facade on the bottom and first flooring, together with a brand new double-height entrance, drop-off space with cover and new restaurant and bar areas.
The principle elevation alongside Higher Berkeley Avenue displays the unique stone facade whereas new cladding ensures it aligns with its neighbouring buildings and makes area for present mature timber. New area spans extensions on the north and south-west of the positioning.
A relaxing area
MAKE Architects designed the interiors of this resort’s rooms and David Collins Studio designed the interiors of the communal areas.
The visitor rooms are distinguished by their use of sunshine timber, textured wall linings and gentle, elegant materials. The modern timber type references each conventional English and Japanese strategies whereas the black metallic detailing takes inspiration from the wrought-iron gates of the sq. and neighbouring buildings. Massive artworks body every room’s headboard.
David Collins Studiothen created a foyer space pairing clear strains and columns with softly curved furnishings and design accents together with a five-metre kinetic sculpture.
This foyer and connecting lounge with a comfy dark-timber central bar are joined by the resort’s upstairs Nobu bar and restaurant, which occupies an open-plan area that includes darkish wooden, yellow seating and customized lighting by Dernier & Hamlyn, together with vintage brass pendants above the sushi bar.
